Questions and Responses to Ask a Question - Steve Lang, Pastor

While we could try and answer questions from a sheer logical point of view that is not the intent of this part of our web page. We will address them from a Biblical point of view if there is one. If the Bible does not address it, then I may or may not give you my personal opinion. Here are some of the questions and responses previously submited:

Date Submitted

3/3/2008 Question: Why does God let bad things happen – Hurricane Katrina, starvation…?

The Bible gives many reasons for why bad things happen: there is a man in the Bible named Job ... his whole life feel apart as a test of his faith and because Satan attacked him. In King David's case, a child died as the direct result of his sin. In some cases, bad things happen to us because we live in a "fallen ... less than perfect world" illnesses, crop failures, weather calamities.

Question: The resurrection of Jesus is hard to understand. Can you explain it?

From a medical point of view, no we can't, although some have tried to explain it way from a medical point of view ... Jesus fainted and then was revived in the coolness of the grave (who moved the stone?) but from a believers point of view there is one simple anwers and it applies to our eventual resurrection. God did it!

2/28/2008 Question: Can a person be at one time in their life saved, but ultimately lost at the end of their life?

Different faith groups hold different positions on this questions. After all is discussed all groups end up at the same positions. "Some will be saved and some will end their lives in an unsaved state. I personally believe that is possible after being saved to forfeit my salvation. God keeps His end of the agreement but we must keep ours. Heb. 6:4-6 speaks the most clearly to this question.

Question: What does it mean to be saved?
Salvation, simply put, is to be at peace with God. It is impossible for a person who has sinned to be a peace with God, so God made a way. His only Son, Jesus, died in my place and when I acknowledge that sacrifice (by believing in Him and acknowledge my need for His forgiveness) and then follow what the Bible says faith should prompt me to do (look at people in the book of Acts) then I can not only enjoy God blessings in this world but also escaped hell to enjoy heaven in the next.
